Not a fan.

For the first time in history,

Napier hosted a One New Zealand Warriors rugby league game against Brisbane Broncos .

I hope this doesn't happen again.

Not a fan of Warriors fans.

Being in the accommodation industry, I am usually in full support of events being hosted in Hawkes Bay, particularly in Napier, that attract visitors to our city. We sold every bed.

We've hosted for big events in the past. We actively try to have everyone in the house for the same reason as this generally means they have a common rhythm and are tolerant and respectful of each other.

We had over 40 people in the house with tickets to that game...some of them would not even have made it in the gate.

If, and it is an if. the Warriors play in Napier again, I will be reluctant to host their fans. The damage inflicted on our property, the disrespect for other guests and staff just wasn't worth it.

I need to replace a mattress, get a glazier in to re-glass a window and several rooms need to be left un-sold while they air out from F**** vapers! I hate vapers. They are arrogant, lazy, self-righteous and ignorant.

There. That's said.

And now to get back to a happy space....

I had to go off and watch kitten video's before continuing.

I mentioned the other week that I'm entering the Hawkes Bay Marathon, as a half marathon runner.

100 years ago I completed the full Hawkes Bay Marathon.
I'm a little older now, so a half will be just fine.

I've been running on and off all my life. It is my preferred form of exercise.  At High School I played top level Netball, hockey and softball but running the cross country was a favourite.  I've never been a top runner. The long legged whippet's would always leave me at the top of the middle pack.

I'm a fair weather runner. I didn't run very much while living in England. Once we returned home, I decided to lace up the running shoes again.

Funny story...

I decided that Gareth joining me for a run might be a nice thing to do together. I imagined us as a fit, healthy, good looking couple, effortlessly jogging the scenic tracks. Smiling and waving to lone joggers as we swept by in a united front of companionship. Beads of perspiration simply making our love and bond shine through.   (The needle of the record on that romantic music overlay just screeched to a halt)

What actually happened....

Me: Gareth, would you like to join me for a run?

Gareth: Not really

Me: Please. It will be fun. Not far. Just the 5k loop around the inlet

Gareth: Sucks in air and sighs heavily...OK

And Then!! Literally...puts down his beer, stubs out a cigarette and says...Let's go!

He beat me home.

I never asked him again!

Coming up is Kings Birthday weekend.

We'll be hosting a large group of College age Volleyball players. It will also be the first use of the new catering collaboration. So next week, I expect to be writing again about the lovely guests we have hosted and how much fun it was seeing them use the space and make memories of their visit.

I'm making the assumption the Under 19 volleyball players will be 1000% more considerate than a bunch of 40 somethings that have been let off the wife-leash. ...and back to kitten video's
