Welcome to Twenty Twenty-Three

  I'm trying again! I've started blogs before and they never seem to stick. I get bored or busy, or both. Previously I have written from Toadies perspective. He's The Toad of Toad Hall Accommodation.

This time, it's me, Ruthie.  
Wife, mother, business owner, 54 years young, fit and healthy. Ready to spill all there is to know about running an accommodation business. 

There are high's. Lovely guests, fun social times and making money. 

There are low's. Un-lovely guests, awkward social interactions and loosing money.

There is no doubt the world over, our industry has been significantly impacted by the response to Covid-19 and it's multitude of variations. And that is the VERY LAST time I will mention the C word.

It happened. They were very hard years. We're still here. 

Gareth and I, both Kiwi's on our world adventures, met in London and after 7 years we married. That was nearly 17 years ago. Our son, Jacob, has just turned 16 and we have owned Toad Hall Accommodation for nearly 13 years. 

We all live on-site at Toadies.

The balance of family life and running a business can be a little like herding cats. I'll share with you the juggle we face of hosting guests, supporting staff, Gareth working away and Jacob being involved in school and sport commitments. 

And my role, keeping the house running, the family supported and the business making money...

 my job, my lifestyle and my passion.
